Postmarked In Oran, Iowa on August 9, 1909, the same year Oran post office was opened. Prior to that time a post office was located at the recently abandoned town of Minkler. Minkler was located 1 mile north of Oran on the current intersection of Highway 3 and V-62 in Bremer County. Note the one-cent postage stamp. This postcard was mailed fro Oran, Iowa on July 30, 1910. It was mailed to Mr. Leslie Getz in Clay Center Nebraska and was sent in care of V. M. Wileman. Although the legibility of sender’s signature is faint, it is possibly “Dad Getz.” (Postcard purchased from vendor at Old Thresher’s Reunion in Mount Pleasant, Iowa by Connie Wedemeier in August 1997.)

This reproduction postcard is the first Oran railroad depot - a box car. The tracks can be scene located to the right of the depot and a lone electrical pole is located in the background.
