Little information is known about a repair garage ran by Maurice Rummel. During an interview with Millie Napoli on July 21, 2005 she mentioned Maurice Rummel had a repair garage that was located south of the creamery.  See photo below. 

A news article in November of 1934 is titled SUHR GARAGE - 5 Years of Expert Service, indicating Louie Suhr’s garage began business in 1929. Various newspaper reports include:

  • March 1939 -John Lenon of Oelwein purchased Louie’s oil truck and business. Due to increased work in Louie’s garage he was unable to do justice to both jobs. Louie plans on giving better service by being on duty all of the time.

  • February 1947 - Louis Suhr, 28, was badly burned when the gasoline he was using in the garage ignited. - Suhr DX Station is found in a 1947 promoting DX motor oils.

Louie Suhr operated the garage and repair service for 35 years and retired in 1972. Louie died in April 6, 1991 as a resident of Denver Sunset Home.

Ray Haun ran Haun Repair that was purchased by Jim Richards and the name changed to Richards Repair.

Oran Motors

In 1972 Ken Greve, of Sumner, purchased the garage from Louis Suhr and the name changed to Oran Motors. Ken’s repair business had a close-out auction on Saturday September 29, 2001. Ken died on March 8, 2003
